Rowe is an American singer, recording artist, songwriter, and composer. His music fuses elements of folk, rock, and classical music, regularly incorporating orchestral and choral elements.
Rowe (rhymes with “wow” and not “grow”) grew up in a musical household and with an eclectic musical background. He studied piano and violin and sang in his mother’s church choir from age 5, started playing bluegrass at age 7, began composing music on the piano at age 8, and formed his first rock band at age 12. His earliest memories of popular music are of James Taylor and Gordon Lightfoot on vinyl. Before entering high school he had picked up guitar, bass, drums and percussion.
Rowe studied music composition and vocal performance at conservatory, and after graduation worked as a musician and audio engineer in New York City and New England. Along the way he played in a power pop band and a folk duo, learned to play the upright bass, wrote string arrangements and composed for string quartet, was a guest soloist with numerous choirs, produced a dozen albums, began writing poetry and solo material, and started a series of creative businesses.
In early 2023, after a series of conversations with his closest musical compadres, Rowe recorded his first solo record. Some New England Night, produced by Lawrence Rothman (Amanda Shires, Angel Olsen) and mixed by F. Reid Shippen, will be released in Fall 2024.
Rowe grew up in New England (where his heart remains) but currently lives on a 15-acre tree farm in Hopewell, NJ.
